Blog Hoppin' Back to School 2014-Wednesday WHY

Today's blog hop from Blog Hoppin' Back to School 2014 is Why Wednesday, as is how do you stay organized and WHY does it work....

I have a problem, I am a very disorganized person!  I try, try and try, but I haven't found something that works for me.  I can usually find whatever I am looking for, sometimes later than I want, but I do find it :o)  A mantra you'll hear in my classroom about organization is: "Do as I say, not as I do!"  I joke with students that my desk is a Black Hole, so if you want credit for something, don't set it there, get it into the right turn-in bin!  <Geez, that sounds bad...I promise I do get everything back to the students in a timely manner and do my job really well!>

If you check out my post from yesterday, I am going to try using these clear drawers behind my desk to sort out what I need the next day.  I figure if I take 10 minutes at the end of the day to get everything in order for the next day, I will spend less time throughout the day running around like a chicken with her head cut off!  Copies that have already been made will get put  in hanging files underneath my students' book bins.

The only thing I have implement this summer is my computer's desktop background.  I saw on another teacher blog a "how to" tutorial about creating a background using powerpoint and saving as a jpeg then setting as the background.  LOVE IT!  I am constantly saving things to my desktop, and this gives me a quick way to sort it until I get folders labeled with content and standards :o)

You can get this background FREE from my TpT here OR email me with your background ideas and I will try to create it for you!  I am going to make some more cutsie ones with clipart and whatnot eventually,  but I started out with function over form for my first crack at it!

However, my biggest organizational trick is these people below picture with me (far right--with the class pet Lizzy, a gecko)  I am thankful to have a GREAT TEAM to work with; people who always have my back in an "emergency."  They help me get through each day, plan for the week, and overall survive!  I love my 5th grade team!

Thanks for reading....if you have any great tips for me to stay organized, comment below! I have scoured blogs, Pinterest, and Facebook, but nothing seems feasible for me...I need practical and easy to implement!

See you tomorrow for WHEN!
